1998 vann en transsexuell israeliska hela Eurovisionen. Grannlandet tonar ut tv-bilden till svart då Israel har starttur i Eurovisionen. Ett av årets nationella israeliska bidrag bröt mot Eurovisionens grundregler. Listan kan göras lång.
Teapacks Push the Button är alltså inte Israels första kontroversiella schlagerförsök.
Gruppen valdes redan tidigare att representera Israel, och fick några veckor på sig att vända ihop fyra alternativa melodier. Av dessa fyra (varav ett fick byta namn till Salam-Salami efter att det upptäckts att texten innehöll bibelcitat) valdes genom telefonomröstning Push the Button med 57 % av rösterna.
Bidraget framförs på engelska, franska och hebreiska och är en blandning av folk, rap och hårdrock. Sångtexten sägs reflektera en utbredd oro över Irans kärnvapenprogram som ett hot mot den judiska staten.
